Signal Strength

Philippians 2:12-13 12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

Dear friend:
Recently I heard a sermon that compared each of us to being like a cell phone. Every cell phone has to make a connection to operate properly. When you turn your phone on you see in the corner one of two things. Either bars that you are connected or the word searching . The corner screen is never blank. The phone is reaching for the connection to the tower. It was designed that way.

You were designed with the same kind of chip inside you. You may not know it but our inner being desires intimacy and connection with the tower, which is God. When you are connected to God your intimacy is flowing back and forth and you are satisfied and fulfilled. Dangerously, your heart can go to places and be drawn to people that are not helping this connection. Fear and trembling help you sense human frailty, but knowing God is with you. This verse often misquoted “working out your salvation.” As if to say you’re in control . Wrong! With Faith and the grace of God you gain strength to obey till your death and then salvation ushers you into the presence of Jesus. The word salvation here in the original Greek is used in a material, temporal sense and in a spiritual, eternal sense. Lay aside rights much valued in our culture, and accept the life-role assigned by God.

I am working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases me. –GOD-

Let’s pray: Father in heaven continue to work in me humility so I will obey and do what pleases you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Signal strength,
Elaine
